Dear Client,
We're constantly working to improve the Onyx platform, and as part of this we need to move your site's database over to a new database cluster - we've optimised the setup to improve both the reliability of the database server overall, and equally importantly, increased the potential speed of database queries being served. Typically, this takes less than 2 minutes per site (may be slightly longer if your site has a particularly large database), but we'll need to take your site offline whilst the work completes.
We'll be doing the bulk of this maintenance Wednesday through to Friday this week - if you'd like us to specifically schedule your site in to be moved at a specific time or out of hours please let us know. If we don't hear back from you, we'll assume you're happy for this maintenance to be carried out at any time between 9am Wednesday 15th May and 8pm Friday 17th May.
Whilst the database migration is taking place your site will show a maintenance screen, reassuring anyone visiting the site that it will be back up as normal shortly - Onyx Mail availability is unaffected.
Please also be assured that we won't remove the old database until we're satisfied the site is online and working on the new database cluster, so the risk of data loss during this maintenance is minimal.
Finally, we've already done this migration for a small number of sites - if we've already moved you over to a new database cluster recently (you'll know if this is the case as we'd have communicated this to you, likely in relation to solving a database-related issue), please disregard this message, we won't need to move your site again. Additionally, all staging sites have already been moved.
